Hear from the Grace Community

Our senior pastor recently asked the congregation what they love about Grace. Here is what they had to say. . .

“This loving community of believers.”

“We welcome and cherish everyone . . . and are grateful for differences.

“That Grace itself is exuded through its programs and its people; the music; the selflessness and putting others’ needs above our own; warmth; missional living; acceptance; recognition and remembrance that we are all children of God, no matter what.”

“Smiling faces and warm hugs!”

“How people of the church show love and support to each other through individual relationships, classes, and out into the community. The love of Christ is seen in the love of the members.”

“Grace has been a home to us. Everybody here is so welcoming and great. The children’s ministry is great. Music and worship is wonderful also, gives us peace.”

“The comradery of Christians.”

“The warm people; being United Methodist; the joy in which we serve others both inside and outside these walls.”

“Helping the community through the Thrift Store, the worship services, the youth programs and Sunday School.”

“The feeling of community and support from the members and staff.”

“Grace is a second home where our family has a safe and loving place where we can be ourselves. I know my Grace family loves us and will always be there to support us when needed. Even in those times we don’t realize we need it.”

“That we can have real conversations in Sunday School and feel safe to share our feelings. And the music!”

“The compassionate, caring pastor and congregation. This is the first church where I truly felt a connection.

“How everyone is so kind and welcoming. I love how caring people are also with prayers, meals, prayer shawls, etc.”

“Curtis’ musical gifts and his willingness to share them abundantly.”

“The warmth & generosity with which we share our resources and our space with those in need of support, and the community around us.”

“That our first senior female pastor is accepted with love and grace!”

“The so very many ways to participate in all the different activities and ways to service in so many different ministries. But still, we are all one big Grace family!”

“The way we welcome and accept all people, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.”

“The feeling of God in this place and in this congregation.”

“Much kindness! Very friendly! This church is real!!! The gifts of the Holy Spirit are throughout Grace UMC.”

“I love that Grace is showing mercy to those who continue to sin. It gives people a chance to change their ways.”

“The SUPPORT, though I know this is a more . . . basic . . . love. It is why I come, why I wake up early to be here. Because of the faith of God and y’all in me.”

“I LOVE our church’s youth group. The youth group has brought me closer to many people at our church who I now consider family. I feel supported and encouraged with my family at church. I also love Wednesday night church with delicious food and consistent interaction.”

“The community :) ”

“Working together to pack Meals-to-Grow and Christmas boxes. Friendships I’ve mad in Book Club and FunTimers.”

“How welcoming the people are. I loved that someone brought me a ‘welcome bag’ to my home the first time I visited Grace. I also love the praise music our Praise Band provides.”

“First and foremost, the people! There is so much love shared here. And all the different ministries that serve all people.”

“The people and programs that have encouraged me and enriched my faith.”

“Community that has become family for us. Opportunities for mission, service, and fellowship. A welcoming place to grow spiritually.”

“No matter how much you fall short or repeat mistakes, God is graceful to all.”

“Helping the community, youth, children’s ministry, GraceFull Singers and the chili cook out and all the wonderful people that always provide help, support, and love inside and outside of Grace.”

“Being a part of the family of Grace.”

“I love the connection I feel when I am in this building or with this church family. Whether I’m here for a team meeting, worship, a meal, craft night, a youth event, or a community outreach event, I am surrounded by people who connect with me and share their love with me. Through the sharing of love, I am blessed and feel closer to God.”

“The welcoming and supportive congregation. I have attended or been a member of about seven (7) UMC congregations over the last 22 years. Grace is the only one of those churches where I’ve felt I truly belonged.”

“Youth and the amazing people in youth; GraceFull Singers and the Cantata.”

“The upbeat music at the first service; Anna Marie’s children’s moment, it’s simple for the children but speaks to us all; the way everyone cares and does what is needed in the church.”

“Opening up our doors to the community around us with a welcoming heart. Provide programs and opportunities for people to walk in our doors so they may find their family here.”

“Ability to worship, work, and play with those who share Christian beliefs, creating a closer relationship with God.”

“The sense of family and belonging.”
