Nurture Ministries
Everything we do at Grace Church is designed to bring people into a deeper relationship with Christ. Nurture Ministries at Grace strive to meet the physical, relational and spiritual needs of our church family.
Food and Fellowship Ministries are coordinated through the special talents of volunteers who are blessed with the gift of hospitality. A Ministry Team plans monthly social gatherings around holidays, welcome of new members, and other ministries in the church.
Congregational Care Ministries serve the church by providing meals to the sick or bereaved. We have a network of servants to touch our elderly members by visits, cards, and calls, and one of our Ministry Teams shares a meal and entertainment with them quarterly. Our “Diakonia Ministry” brings communion, blessed by our pastor, to those who can not attend. We celebrate when a new baby arrives with a gift basket, an altar rose, and a yard sign. We reach out to families of those serving overseas, to our college students, and to those who are graduating.
Christian Education Ministries are coordinated through the work of our Adult Ministry Team. A complete Sunday School program and adult studies program, along with youth and children’s ministries, enhance the nurture of our congregation.
Adult Enrichment Conferences are held each year and opened to the community. Our Adult Ministries Team holds Parenting Conferences, Marriage Enrichment Conferences, Financial Peace University, and other ministries each year.
Prayer Ministries are designed to deepen our spiritual life and lift up others. Prayer requests are shared by email announcements and a phone chain. A Prayer Shawl Ministry reaches out in prayer for healing and shares handmade gifts of love. If you have a prayer concern, please don’t hesitate to write us at pastor@graceumchsv.org.
Church Retreats are planned annually for the church family to go to Camp Sumatanga. These retreats are a special family time of spiritual growth. We always have a huge crowd!
Supper Club gives the adults of Grace the chance to join together for food and fellowship monthly. Groups of 8 or 10 adults meet, usually at local restaurants, to share a meal and get to know each other. Groups rotate throughout the year.
Leisure Ministries give adults and youth the chance to fellowship together. Softball teams are formed on occasion and our outdoor volleyball court is used for many activities.
Scrapbook Crafters Club meets monthly on Friday evenings. Women meet to work on their individual craft projects and fellowship together.
“Literary Ladies,” our women’s morning book club, meets on the second Wednesday at 10:00 am to discuss popular books. These include novels as well as historical non-fiction. This group is self-led and chooses a new selection each month.
“Funtimers” is our ministry of senior adults enjoying the prime of retirement life. They meet monthly on Monday afternoons and go on trips and outings throughout the year.
