Children’s Ministries

Children’s Ministry is an exciting and rapidly growing area of ministry at Grace UMC! We have a dynamic Children’s Ministry Team who loves serving Christ and kids! Our goal is to enthusiastically serve Christ in all activities that we do! The theme of our Children’s Program is “G.R.A.C.E. Station” representing “God Reaches All Children Everywhere.” The space theme is inspired by the colorful space mural in the children’s hallway, with children of all colors working together and serving Christ, just as we seek to do.

SUNDAY SCHOOL is at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday morning for all children beginning at 2 years of age. Our classrooms are staffed with loving and enthusiastic teachers who are gifted with sharing the love of Christ! We offer classes as follows:

2-3 year old Class (Room 103)
4-Kindergarten Class (Room 104)
1-2nd Grade Class (Room 202)
3-4th Grade Class (Room 203)
5-6th Grade class (Youth Directors Office Upstairs)

NURSERY MINISTRIES are a top priority at Grace UMC! We believe that this is one of the most important areas of ministry at Grace and we strive to make our nurseries as friendly and safe as possible.

We offer 3 distinct nurseries at Grace for safety.
*Infant Nursery is for Newborns through Crawlers.
*Toddler 1 Nursery is for Walkers through Age 2.
*Toddler 2 Nursery is for 2-3 year olds.

To ensure the safety of all children in the nurseries, it is a requirement that all children be assigned a number and safety tags that must be worn while in the nursery. Parents are also given a matching safety tag. (Pagers are available to locate parents when needed.)

Our nurseries are staffed with warm, loving workers who enjoy sharing the love of Christ with the children. We strive to have clean and well organized nurseries to meet the needs of our youngest worshipers.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH is offered each Sunday morning for children 4 years old through 2nd grade during the 10:45 a.m. service. Loving volunteers use their talents to teach children just how much Jesus loves and cherishes them!

ACOLYTES are children, ages 6 and older, who are trained to assist in worship each Sunday by carrying the light of Christ in and out of the service. New acolytes are trained quarterly.

CHILDREN’S CHOIRS are offered seasonally on Sunday evenings at 5:30 pm for children 2nd – 6th grade. They perform at our annual Christmas dinner each year.

THE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT is held each year to celebrate all that Christ has done for us through his love. This is a special time of fellowship and fun and it allows the community to take part in the exciting things that are going on at Grace!

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS are offered throughout the year. BibleZone is an eight week program offered during the spring and fall on Wednesday evenings for children 4 years old through 6th Grade. BZ is a fun night of sharing activities such as stories, games, science and crafts. During the summer, we celebrate Wacky Wednesdays in July. This is a special time that we gather to do a cool summer activity just for fun!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL is our biggest event of the year! We go “all out” each June to have a fun and exciting time of worship, games, crafts, drama, and story time. Many wonderful volunteers come together to make VBS an awesome experience for everyone!

Join everyone at BAOBAB BLAST: God’s Great Get-Together!

Mark your calendar for Vacation Bible School at Grace UMC – June 13-16, 2010.
God’s Great Get-Together won’t be the same without YOU!
All kids ages 4 yrs – 5th grade are welcome!

Baobab Blast is an open invitation to be a part of God’s Great Get-Together. Set under the impressive baobab tree, kids will have the opportunity to hear the Word, be amazed at God’s wildlife creations, and be a part of a supportive community. The great baobab tree in the expansive African savannah is the setting for this year’s VBS.

What is a Baobab?Baobab (bä´ōbăb´´) is a gigantic tree found in Africa that creates its own ecosystem. A baobab tree’s hollowed-out trunk, leaves, foliage, nectar, fruit, and bark provide basic life needs for many different creatures. For two months out of the year, when the rain falls and the grasses are green in the African Savannah, the baobab tree produces leaves and flowers. The enormous tree can grow to 98 feet tall and 36 feet wide. Baobab trees are one of the world’s oldest life forms. The baobab tree serves as a meeting place for many people to gather, discuss, and share stories.
At Baobab Blast, the baobab tree is the central figure—the hub of activity, energy, and life. The baobab tree supports and invites community. In fact, the baobab tree is a symbol of community.

SPECIAL EVENTS are offered during the fall and winter. Trunk-or-Treat is a safe and fun night in October when everyone dresses up and “treats” the kids with goodies from their decorated trunks. We have a costume contest with prizes and lots of other events that make the night tons of fun!

We culminate the year with our annual “Happy Birthday Jesus Party”, when we gather to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ! We fellowship with food, crafts, and the reading of the traditional Christmas Story. We also prepare fruit baskets for our church family shut-ins as our special holiday mission project.

As you can see, there is lots going on with Grace Children’s Ministries!

Check out the Grace Monthly Calendar for all the above, plus lockins, game nights, and all sorts of fun!
